About Me

Katy White, Bookkeeper and Spreadsheet Queen

While trying to really do things right by tracking expenses meticulously, I opened up my first Quickbooks account. As much as I loved this tool, I wanted to understand the accounting behind the software.  Double-entry accounting.  So I decided to enroll in an Associates program to earn-a two-year degree in Accounting.  From there projects just seemed to find me.  I served as the Treasurer of the Chappaqua PTA for two years. Then my dad died and left me and my sisters a business that we knew had potential to be sold, but my dad had not kept very good records.  Since I now had the skill-set to demonstrate the value this business had through data and financial reporting, we were able to sell his business to a publicly traded-company after years of due-diligence and courting our suitors.

Finally, just prior to opening up Dragonfly Bookkeeping, my full-time freelance bookkeeping business, I worked at a light manufacturing company in Northern Westchester where daily I processed a huge volume of bills to be paid and invoiced our customers.  It was great experience, but it solidified that what I really love doing is interacting with many clients in different fields.  I want to share my experience with customers and help with their bookkeeping needs including tax-planning, keeping things tidy, and being able to know where you are at in a moment's notice, and be able to demonstrate it to anyone who needs to know, because I know first-hand how important that can be.

I work from my home in Northern Westchester County, New York.  I can service clients remotely and/or visit your office if you are in the tri-state area.  Please don't hesitate to Contact Me if you think I can be of assistance.  I'd love to help.

My CV/ Resume:

I started Dragonfly Bookkeeping because I find helping clients with their accounting very rewarding.  Not a lot of people enjoy this part of running a business, so I guess I'm fortunate that I really do!

After earning my Bachelor's Degree from NYU, one of my first jobs in New York City was managing cash for medium-sized businesses and high-net-worth individuals.  That entailed trading short term fixed income products such as commercial paper & treasuries.

I then moved into a broader portfolio management role with a Registered Investment Advisor, still managing money for High Net Worth individuals.  For this role I obtained my FINRA Series 7 and 66 Licenses.

I was also fortunate enough to work in Private Equity administering several funds-of-hedge funds also for High Net Worth individuals.

Once I had my children, I had to find a more flexible way of earning than working in an office.  So I studied for my Real Estate Salesperson license with an eye to do some real estate investing.  It was in this role that I discovered my love of bookkeeping.
